Sweetz for your sweetie

The buzz on Tulsa’s tastiest products, restaurants and events.

The holidays are here, which means sweets and indulgences are at an excess. There is one new bakery that should satisfy the sweet tooth in all of us. Kupcakz, a cupcake boutique, is the first of its kind to open in Tulsa. The cupcake trend has taken off on both coasts, and now we have some gorgeous and delicious treats to brag about. Doreen Durano, a graduate of the California Culinary Academy, uses only the finest ingredients, as well as a creative palate, resulting in delicious flavors such as Peppermint Maddy (bittersweet chocolate cake with mint buttercream and French chocolate sprinkles), My Peanut Buttercup (dark chocolate cake with creamy peanut butter frosting and French chocolate sprinkles) and Boston Dreamer (fluffy yellow cake filled with French pastry cream and topped with bittersweet chocolate ganache). It’s virtually impossible to decide. Kupcakz also offers holiday-themed cupcakes, such as I Dream of Ginger (ginger spice cake with eggnog cream cheese frosting).

Cupcakes are $2.50 each, $14.50 for six or $28 for a dozen, taxes included. Hours are 8 a.m.-6 p.m., Monday-Friday; 10 a.m.-6 p.m., Saturday; and noon-5 p.m., Sunday. 7135 S. Mingo Road, 461-0228.
